Story of Smrithi, Puspha and Yashodha

Story: I have written a story of three Girls – Smrithi, Puspha and Yashodha.

Smrithi and Suresh were looking forward to their wedding eagerly. Smrithi was in cloud nine. She had a feeling of complete satisfaction. She felt her life was complete now.
But God had other plans for her. One evening on Valetines Day, when Smrithi and Suresh went out for dinner and Suresh presented her a lovely saree. They were happily chit chatting when Suresh received a call from his mother. He was shocked. He told Smrithi “I am leaving now will call you latter”.
He hired a taxi and went straight to the place where his mom said she was. He went running towards his crying mom. Suresh and his mother wept and wept.
Smrithi did not know what happened, she was worried about Suresh and went back home. It was late in the night but she did not receive any call from Suresh. She became more worried. She tried calling him but his mobile was switched off.  Smrithi had a disturbed night.
The few minutes that she slept, she had dreams of snakes crawling all over her. She woke up scared. She tried calling Suresh but his mobile was not reachable. At 9.00 AM in the morning Smrithi’s father was very upset from what he heard from the telephone call he received. Smrithi’s knew that there was something wrong.
Smrithi’s father broke the silence. Listening to her father Smrithi’s head started spinning. She wept. Suresh’s house looked gloomy. His mother and sisters sat speech less. The look on Suresh face said everything.
Smrithi was devastated looking at Suresh. The house was full of people. People came in from everywhere. Relatives, friends, colleagues, neighbour’s poured in from all over. Suresh’s father ‘was no more. He died in an accident on Valentines Day.
Days went by; Smrithi had not seen Suresh for a week now. He refused to meet anyone.  Smrithi’s parents were worried about her.  Suresh‘s mother had told them that the wedding would be postpone by a year.
One day Smrithi received a call from Suresh. She was very happy. She heard his voice after a months’ time. Suresh wanted to meet her. She knew that her happy days would come back. She showered, got dressed. She was confused she was not sure if she was looking good in the salwar she wore. She then wore on a saree that Suresh had gifted her on Valentine’s Day.  She looked stunning. It’s been a month since she had dressed well. Her parents were happy to see her.
They usually met every evening in Joggers Park. Suresh had asked her to meet him there. Her heart beat was fast. She felt as though she was meeting Suresh for the first time. She saw him sitting on the bench where they usually sat in the evenings waiting for her.
Smrithi was shocked to see Suresh. He did not look the same. His eyes were red. Clothes were not ironed.  He looked as if he has not eaten or slept for days. His words came crashing upon Smrithi. He told her that he is breaking their engagement. He has lots of responsibilities on him now. He has to get his sisters married. He is not any more interested in Marriage.
Tears just rolled down Smrithi’s cheeks. She was shocked to hear all this. She felt everything around her has stopped. Suresh left.  She sat on the bench speechless. She was feeling dizzy and nauseating. She never even dreamt that her love life would turn out to be so.
Her parents were waiting for waiting for Smrithi to be back. When the saw her they knew what had happened. The phone rang. It was Suresh’s mother. She conveyed Suresh decision to Smirthi’s father.
Weeks passed by Suresh did not respond to any of Smrithi’s call. Smrithi tried to convince him but he would not even talk to her. Smrithi parents were angry with Suresh and his mother’s behaviour.  They wanted to get Smrithi married to someone else within few months.
Smrithi’s relatives brought in photos and horoscopes of grooms from all over India. Smrithi did not want to marry anyone else. She was still in love with Suresh. Her parents tried to persuade her. Her friends took her out for parties. But she was never herself.
Months went by but Smrithi was still the same. She tried calling Suresh but he had changed his number and job. His family moved on to another town. No one knew the whereabouts of their family. They had sold all their property here.
Smrithi got married to Ajay a year later.
You must be wondering I had mentioned that the story is about three girls and I have not written anything about Pushpa and Yashodha. Here we go
Pushpa was born into a middle class family. Her father was a government employee. Her mother was a house wife. She studied well.  She had an elder brother who loved her alot and her father did everything to make Pushpa study and get her everything she wanted.
Puspha grew up to be a kind and beautiful lady. Pushpa started her career as a call centre executive. She felt very nervous on her first day of work. She had come to office an hour late.
She belonged to Coimbatore and her place of work was Chennai. She left for Chennai a day before. Her parents had come to the bus stop to see her off. She was happy and at the same time sad to leave her parents. She has never been alone before. She was to stay at her Uncle’s house in Chennai.
She reached Chennai at 8.30 AM. Her bus was late by two hours. She went to her uncle’s house got ready and left to office. She reached office around 10.00 AM, she was an hour late. All her team mates were in. She excused herself for coming late.
She was happy to see Swarna there. She met her during the interview and they became friends. The first day at work was good. They were introduced to the team Managers and the process. They had a trainer from Mumbai who always kept saying he hates boys.
The first ten days of work was only training sessions. She got to know her team mates well. She spoke to everyone in the team and always smiled. Her team mates loved her. She loved the training sessions as she was made to sing which she had never done before.
In one of the training sessions they had to enact an advertisement. They formed small groups and each group had to enact an advertisement. Puspha was very happy. That was something she loved to do.
After completion of 10 days training the shift time changed to the night from 6.00 PM to 1.00 AM famously called the mid night shift.  This week they were introduced to their Supervisor Vinod. Puspha did not like him. He did not smile. He spoke with lots of accent probably that’s the way how people speak once you join the call centre (American accent).  Pushpa was a fun loving person she always used to sms her team mates, send jokes to them.  Vinod did not like all this.
In one of the training sessions they were introduced to a new trainer by the name of Joseph. He only kept talking about himself saying he was a Team Lead in EG and great stuffs about himself. To Pushpa he looked more of a boastful guy but he was cute. The girls called him Joe.
Puspha and her team where put on real time work. For a month Puspha found it very difficult to make a sale. Vinod used to always snub her in front of the whole team during team meetings. But Puspha never took it serious and used to snub him back.
One day as she was working the manager announced that Puspha and few more from the team would be moving to a new team under a new supervisor. She was very unhappy to leave her team. Puspha and few others were waiting in the meeting room to join their new team and the new supervisor.
The Manager came along with the supervisor and introduced him as Ajay. When Puspha saw her she felt as though her heart beat has stopped for a moment. It was love at first sight. Ajay was a handsome and well-built man. Puspha was happy to see him
When Ajay spoke to her she felt as though he was singing a love song to her. She started to dream of Ajay and her sitting in the garden. She was enjoying her dream. Suddenly she heard a loud noise. All of them where laughing at her. Ajay thought she must be some kind of a crazy girl.
Puspha struggled hard to make sales. Ajay was not happy with the team performance. It was the lowest rated team. They had frequent meetings to discuss about their calls to customers and find out where they were lagging. Puspha usually went home around 8.00 Am in the morning. Before she sleeps she would always rehearse her Rebuttal’s and the way she would speak and make a sale.
The next day she decided she would surely make a sale. Ajay came close to her when she was on a call and told her today you are going to make 5 sales and I believe you. These words were like magic. She became more confident. She knew she would. At the end of the day she had made sales which were approved by quality control team also. Ajay and Puspha were very happy.
They became very good friends. Puspha became the top caller of the month and she was promoted as a team lead. She was very much in love with Ajay. But she never told him that she was in love with him. She did not know if he loved her. She was scared of rejection.

Ajay was very fond of Puspha. He fell in love with her when they first met. She was very simple and honest. She did what she wanted. He fond her to be different from other girls. He wanted to tell her about his love for her. But he wanted to first find out if she also loved him. He was also scared of rejection.
Valentine’s Day was coming soon so both Pushpa and Ajay thought they would propose to each other on that day.
On Valentine’s Day Ajay went out to purchase a saree for Pushpa and he met Suresh there who was purchasing a saree for Smrithi. They helped each other in selecting the saree and Suresh advised Ajay not to delay anymore and propose Puspha immediately. They spoke to each other for a few minutes and parted ways.
Ajay was very happy he wanted to see Pushpa immediately. As he was driving he saw Pushpa with another man in the beach. He was very hurt. He went straight home. He was very depressed. At 6.00 PM in the evening he received a call from Puspha, she told him that she wanted to meet him and she was very happy today as she met her brother after 6 months. He had just come back on holiday from the Navy and she spent the whole day with him in the beach
Ajay was very happy. He was thinking what a fool he had been.  He was getting ready to meet Pushpa at the restaurant for dinner. He carried the saree along with him to hand it over to Pushpa. When he reached the restaurant he met Suresh there again. He was happy to see him. Suresh told him that he had come there to have dinner with his finance. They then parted ways.
Ajay was waiting for Puspha for about half an hour, when he received a call from someone asking him to come immediately. He knew something was wrong as the person asked him to come to the hospital. When he reached the hospital he saw Puspha’s brother standing out. He was in tears. Her brother took Ajay to where Puspha was. She was in the ICU. She had met with an accident on the way when she was coming to see Ajay.
Ajay was in tears. Puspha told him that she loved him a lot and asked him to save her as she wanted to live and with him as his wife. Ajay broke down. Within an hour Pushpa passed away. Ajay felt like the whole world came crashing on him.
A year passed by but he could not forget Puspha. Everything reminded him of her. He left his job and started taking care of his father’s business.   A year passed by,
Ajay’s mother forced him to marry Smrithi.

Ajay and Smrithi got married against their wishes. Thy did not speak to each other much during the wedding. Smrithi did not even want to intvite her friends for the wedding. She only kept thinking about Suresh. She knew life has to go on and she had to forget everything about Suresh. But she was too much in love with him. Ajay on the other hand could not Puspha off his mind. He thought maybe after days go by he would try and forget everything about Puspha.

Ajay and Smirthi family wanted to have a grand wedding. As the parents wanted the wedding was grand and they both got married. On the night of their wedding Smirthi was sitting on the bed thinking about what she had to do next. She could not belive that she was now married to Ajay. Ajay on the other hand did not know what to tell Smirthi. He thought every girl would have some aspiratons and expectations of their wedding and he did not want Smirthi to be unhappy. Ajay wanted to tell Smirthi about his life and his love for Puspha.

As soon as Ajay opened the door Smirthi stood up. Her eyes were moist. Ajay came next to her and told her that he wanted to talk to her and tell her everything about his life. He told her everything about Puspha and his love for her. He said both of them could live as friends for life. Smirthi was sad to hear about Puspha but happy to know about Ajay’s decision. As she also was still in love with Suresh.
Smirthi told her parents that she was happy with Ajay and they were living a very happy life. Ajay would go to work every day. Most of the time he spent in office. Smirthi would help her mother in law in house hold works. So no one knew that they were not happy.
Ajays mother asked him to take Smirthi somewhere out for their honeymoon as they have not gone out together. Ajay hated the idea , but he could not tell his mother anything. He told her he was busy with work. Smirthi was happy.
It was now a month since both of them were married. One day when Smirthi and her mother in law were out shopping she was surprised to see Suresh with a lady and a baby. They looked very much like a very happy family. She was angry to see him like that. She thought to herself that she was the one thinking about him. She had all kinds of ideas going on. She thought to herself that anymore she should live her life and stop thinking about Suresh. As he does not deserve her love anymore.
She could not eat and sleep that night. She felt betrayed. She thought to herself she has a life and she should live happily.  She made her mind to forget about the past and concentrate on the future. She some how felt she could find a place in Ajay’s heart for her.
Ajay used to keep thinking about Puspha day and night.  He wanted to live with her but God had taken her away from him.  He felt sad for Smrithi also , he was feeling very guilty of even ruining her life. As months went by one day Ajay called Smrithi and told her that he wanted to speak to her. First he asked her to forgive him as he is still not able to accept her in place of Puspha. Smrithi told him that she wanted to tell him about her life also but Ajay told her that he knew everything about her as Smirthi’s father had already told him about some boy who she was engaged to and latter the marriage was cancelled. He asked Smirthi to give him sometime. She told him that she would waiting for him.
As months passed by Ajay and Smirthi became good friends. One day Ajay called Smirthi and told her that he was going to bring one of his friend and his family for dinner. So Smirthi was excited as this was the first time Ajay had called her from his office and asked her to prepare dinner.
Smirthi got busy preparing dinner. She wanted everything to taste good. She wanted to impress Ajay.  After setting the table for dinner she went to take a shower and she wore on the saree that Suresh had given her on Valentines day.  She was very happy. She was eagerly waiting for Ajay to come.
She heard the car coming in. She ran to the doorstep to receive Ajay and the guests. She was surprised to see Suresh there.  She did not know how to react. Suresh was also surprised to see her. He thought to himself had he know Smrithi was Ajay’s wife he would not come, but he could not do anything now.
Ajay introduced Smrithi to him and took them inside. Suresh introduced Yashodha as his wife and his daughter Meera who was a year and half old . Smirthi could not even talk she started stammering. She then excused herself and ran into the kitchen she was thinking what Suresh was doing here. She did not want to meet him. She hated the day. Then she thought she had to take care of them. She was confused if Ajay knew who Suresh was.
Smrithi hated Suresh and she had more hatred for Yashodha. Suresh was also feeling very uncomfortable. Yashodha seemed to be a very nice person. Smrithi liked Meera a lot. But she hated her parents. They had dinner and Suresh and his family left.
Ajay helped Smrithi in all the cleaning and washing work. He seemed friendlier towards her. He told Smirthi that Suresh was a very kind and great person. Smirthi wanted to know how Ajay knew Suresh. Ajay told her that he had met Suresh on Valentines day when he went there to purchase a ring for Puspha and Suresh was there to purchase a gift for his loved one. He then met Suresh in the hospital where Puspha was admitted. The same hospital where Suresh’s father was also admitted.
He said the accident was a tradedy for three families. One his, the other was Suresh family and Yashodha’s family. Smirthi was shocked. She asked him how Yashodha family was related to the accident. He said that fateful night Suresh’s father had rammed into Yashodha’s car which in turn rammed onto Puspha’s two wheeler. At that time Yashodha was 8 months pregnant. On that fateful night Suresh father, Yashodha’s husband and Pushpa died.
Yashodha was an orphan and after the death of her husband her in laws threw her out of the house saying the infant was not lucky for the family. Suresh mother heard of all this and brought Yashodha home. She knew all this happened because of Suresh ‘s father who was drunk that night.
Suresh was feeling very guilty about it. Meera was born after a month and Suresh mother took care of Meera as her own grandchild. Suresh did not want to leave Meera and Yashodha and get married to Smirthi. He loved Smirthi but he wanted to give Meera a wonderful life. So he married Yashodha after a year.
Smrithi’s started crying. She felt very bad thinking about Suresh. He was a nice person. Ajay told her that after listening to what Suresh has done. He felt very small in front of him. He said that made him think what he was doing with his life.
He hugged Smirthi and told her that she was his wife and he was sorry for not accepting her.
Ajay and Smirthi loved each other and were happily married. Suresh took good care of Meera and Yashodha. They lived happily ever after.
